Default Ordered a new rig today. WOOHOO!

I had an itch to spend money so I ordered a Redington CTX 4pc 10' 8wt from Sierra for $186 shipped with coupon. I also ordered the Hardy Ultralight DD 7000 (7-9wt) in black to match the rod from a fly shop in Wyoming for $299 shipped, and backed along with Rio Grand on it. (I've always backed my own line and tied my own nail knots. Should I unspool and inspect when I get it?)

I'm excited to have it. Is this what is considered to be a switch rod? It's 10' and has the fighting butt end. I think it'll be useful when the wind is blowing my 5wt around too much, and the extra foot at the top will be nice when sitting on the pontoon.

Should be a nice setup. What do you all think?

Sounds cool man! A switch rod gives the caster the option to switch between casting with two hands or one. So I think to be a true switch, it has to have a two handed grip, which would be more than a fighting butt. But I bet that this g will roll cast like a mother. I think I've seen the Wyoming shop with that sweet deal on the fully lined DD. ...I would definitely unwind the whole thing just so I could redo it and make it feel like mine.

Haha, yeah. Last week I was out at Aurora on the shore with a buddy that's mostly into bass. I was rolling out and he commented "man you get that thing out there." That was with my 5wt. Gotta show him the new one

polarbearco.
Nice Gear at pretty Good Prices.
I would Inspect & Check it before I used it even though The Guys who put it together are Pros they too can sometimes make mistakes as I've seen Failures in The Past
Another thing if you don't check it you will always wonder while you are Fishing if it's going to Fail I know I would.
Brian.
