rchouser12 is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Should I buy a bamboo rod for $350???

@hardyreels I did say no extra tips LOL. ({[Bottom line of my first paragraph of the first post.]}) I cannot remember the name of the rod. I know it has a label. The guides are affixed with red/wine(ish) thread wraps and are blued I think. The reel seat is a walnut? There isn't a screw down reel lock just a shiny engraved silver retaining ring and a slot.

I have a 7'- 4 weight zhu's rod , based on the garrison 201e taper, and two redington CT's........therefore, I will second the statements by gfirob.... Personally, I am lingering towards the Orvis impregnated rods, as Orvis has a ready supply of extra tips, according to my local Orvis dealer. JMHO....YMMV...

Yonder
It was an Orvis impregnated rod that I closed in the truck door. I can still hear the crunch... It was a great rod, RIP.

You should be able to get a replacement tip......if you are interested....you only need to give the serial number of the rod....and of course, money...I hope you can get it repaired.

Plus if I can out fish the Simms wearing, Sage rod casting, fly buying not tying, fancy folks with a stick I'd like that!

I don't think that's such a good deal. Here is one that's set to end in a few minutes.

Bamboo Fly Rod 7 1 2' 3SECTION 2 Tips 5 WT | eBay

No bids yet with a minimum of $248. Two tips, all reabuilt south bend 7 1/2' with money back guarantee.
There may be others, I haven't checked.

Rip, if it looks like this, stick it on ebay. It went for $320.

There are a couple Orvis Madisons on there, but they will likely go for more than he wants to spend. Bamboo 7 1/2' and under will aways sell well if they are in good shape.
