Default Thinking about Upgrading :D

Hey guys,
so im upgrading from my cheap walmart pflueger outfit
im considering two outfits currently, the L.L. Bean Streamlight Ultra outfit and the slightly pricier Redington Tempt/Drift outfit.
anyone with experience using these rod/reels? i like Redington's looks and the Drifts click/pawl system but i can't ignore the streamlight either, especially considering the value.
or maybe you have your own suggestion beside these two?

I don't have any experience with those rods/reels but I did just upgrade from my cheap combo setup. I went with the Cabela's TLr rod and and Caleba's Prestige Premier reel, I've had it for about two weeks now and I love it. Feels great in my hand and casts very well. Was a little pricey for me but I looked at it as a long term investment.

I have only heard of good things about Redington rods.

As far as the reels...to be honest....****. I have the drift. I bought it as a back-up for my small stream rod. Which is a Greys GS2...Love the rod.

The reel looks great...At 2.5 ounces, balanced well with the rod...Its just plain old sloppy. As guess for the price....you cant ask for much.

Yes.....Redington rod.
No......Redington reel

I just started to upgrade my Pflueger combo too. First I bought some weight forward bright orange 6 wt line. Then I bought a quest 2 reel from L.L.Bean. What a piece of work. It was $45.00 shipped and I love it. All metal with a disc drag, light clicks when the drag goes out and no resistance when reeling due to the one way bearing. I just came home from fishing with it for the first time and all I can say is that it works a million times better than the pflueger. I also ordered a 5wt rod from cabelas which is supposed to be here tomorrow or this week sometime. Can't wait to see the difference in quality between the super cheap combo that got me started and the cheap but better setup I am working on putting together. Good luck on your choice!

I just got an email from Clymb that had several Reddington rods at a pretty good discount. May be worth looking into.

To much "play" and wobble in the spool.
