Default Newest fire updates

This information is less than 4 hours old on each of the fires listed. They are all active fires.
Goldpan, Bitterroot Nat Forrest 28,000 acres
Birch Creek,Sawtooth area 100,000 acres
Elk complex, Boise Nat Forrest 137,000 acres
Pony complex Boise district 149,00 acres
....................

Druid, Yellowstone Nat Park 100 acres
Alder, Yellowstone Nat Park 3000 acres
Alum, Yellowstone Nat Park 4500 acres
Hardluck, Yellowstone Nat Park 24,000 acres

Obviously, resources are streched thin. Fire fighters, smoke jumpers and support personel are working around the clock. It is demanding and very dangerous work.

PLEASE keep these heroic people in your prayers.

Wow, those are some huge fires. I remember last summer when we had the Fontenelle Fire west of Big Piney and it grew to a little over 80,000 acres and there for about a week the town looked like some third world war movie with the black skies and ash fallout. Amen to all those brave soles working those fires!

The area of the beautiful state of Rhode Island is just under 778,000 acres. To put the current fire situation in perspective, consider this :

There are more acres currently burning out west than exist in some entire states.

Imagine the man hours, food, health issues, sanitation, logistics, and other resources involved in fighting all those fires on the ground, and from the air, simultaneously.
My heartfelt wishes are with those hundreds of people doing what they can to help others be safe, and to their families who can only wait and pray for their safe return home.

Red face Re: Newest fire updates

And those numbers don't even include what's burning in Northern California and Oregon.

We received some significant rain here in Pinedale the last couple of days which really helped the local fires burning in the upper Green valley. I looked on the Yellowstone fire status but it is 20 hours old so I can't tell if they received any rain help or not.

Thumbs down Re: Newest fire updates

Larry, send it North! (Rain) Watching another collection of T and L clouds build to the east of me .. doesn't take a second thought where they're headed.

Just 'cooked' some food and looked back out the office window. Amount of T & L's have doubled in minutes.

Fred: Wish I could! Looks like we are in for another late afternoon rain shower, I sure hope this is getting into the park, they have a couple pretty good sized fires going on up there.
