But for any emperor wannabes or budding Bishops I'd say a purple rod and reel could extend their influence and thus increase their catch rate. I chose 'Yes' but only in a matt finish.

Perhaps this is a cautionary tale of what can happen if you overdo your support of your wife's love of purple. Her husband will probably be buried in a purple casket.
I know of that house. been a while since i've seen it though.

Yeah, it is in Clarksville. I used to live a couple blocks from it toward the old skylift.

Purple rod and complementing reel?

Sparkles? Glitter? Bass-boat level of metal flake?

Am a pragmatist.... Does the set up throw the line the way I need it to? Will it be easily seen in a predominantly earth-tone environment? Will it catch me more fish? Is it the "best bang for the buck" rod in it's class?

I fish a lot of small, tight, shallow places for mostly resident browns.... the best I can hope for is to be seen and not noticed.

Then again, if it makes her happy, IT IS GOOD!
(Getting an Al reel stripped and re-powdered wouldn't he a financial horror show. Also, as far as the reel goes, if you are into doing the work yourself look into the Al anodizing kits from Caswell Plating.
