Default Picked up my beginners outfit...

After many recommendations from forum members, I purchased a TFO NXT 5/6 weight combo as my starter kit. It seems that everyone thought it was a high quality rig at a beginners price point, so I assumed I couldn't go wrong. Can anyone point me to on online source and recommend some good flies for crappie, bluegill and bass? Thank you all so much for your help, NRA

Start out with some size 10 bead head wooly buggers in black and olive. Those will work well for all species mentioned.

Two panfish bug sites to start with: breambugs.com for buggers and anglersmart.com a great site for foam spiders(black works best) Anything with white legs! Crappie feed mostly under the surface. Good luck.

I'ld add some nymphs like the Pheasant tail and muskrat as well. Then add some rubber legged bugs, spiders and hoppers.

Hi nralover,

That is a good setup for a beginner. If you find that fly fishing is your thing, you might want to upgrade the line and later a better reel. The line and reel is fine to learn with and you may be satisfied with them for a long time.

For Bluegills and Crappy you need any small fly with rubber legs.

Frank
