No-Knot Fas-Snap, have you ever used it?

Well, considering my very limited fishing time and contact lens problem, I am looking into getting myself the No-Knot Fas-Snap thingy.

Have you guys used them before, the link below will show you how they look like.

I have one and it works, but I don't like any of the knots commonly tied with it -- so I don't bother with it.

I prefer whipped loops in my fly line -

What if you use different sized flies or a very small fly? You still have to change the tippet and then you need to tie on a different sized one of the Fas-Snap.

You still tie a knot to attach that to your tippet. I tried something similar many years ago. I think Cortland sold what I tried, but same idea. They were OK, but as Silver Creek has pointed out, if you fish with a wide range of fly sizes, it's not the ideal connection for all. My main issue when I tried them was losing both the snaps & my flies to snags. At least with just the fly, the loss was not as costly.

I use them when fishing for Bass, Pike, and Saltwater stuff, which means I have been using them a lot lately. I like them.

I had one occasion where I was snagged on the bottom (I was fishing deep with a fast sinking line) and in trying to get loose I somehow managed to actually disconnect the fas-snap from the fly.

Yes, I'm saying that I lost the fly but not the fas-nap, and the fas-snap was not straitened out.

For awhile that worried me, but I have never had anything like that happen again.

I am so glad that I asked you guys the experts, since nobody in the BPS reviews mentioned about the using them with different tippet size.

I guess to be able to effectively and efficiently using one of these is to stick with the same tippet material for the longest time.

I don't do dry fly much, for trouts I am mostly using leeches and wolly buggers size 8-12 with 30" 4x fluorocarbon tippet loop to loop to the leader. I don't often change my tippet unless it is 16" short and I can feel the abrasion in it.

This might work for me but hopefully I can get more inputs about them form the others.

OH, as far as tippet size goes I just use these for big streamers and poppers and I make my own leaders ending in 12 pound Flouro,

my dad broke his finger a few summers back and and wasn't able
to tie any knots so i brought some up for him to try. they seemed
to work ok. he was able to switch patterns with out having me re-tie
every time.

I use them a lot for ice fishing.

Fly-fishing... they don't seem practical for me, BUT I do almost 100% trout fishing and often fish small fly sizes. Even the smallest Fas-Snap is too big for use with small flies.

Real savior for switching ice jigs though. :thumbsupu

They are getting good reviews in the net, I am going to stop at the BPS tomorrow to personally check them out for the right size and fit.
