Re: Fly fishing shows -any to choose from?
Hi dog,
Here is a link to a post about that boat with some good pictures. That boat probably has been sold but you might try sending a PM to the fellow who made the post. If he has sold it he may give you an honest opinion about the boat.
The front floor section is cut out so you can use flippers to help control the boat. You are right that it would also be helpful for standing in shallow water. It is not a design that I would want but we all have our preferences. Keep in mind that I have never seen or rowed one of these boats.
Fly fishing shows are pretty slim on TV. There use to be more but not too many now. The trouble with most fly fishing shows that are on TV do not provide and instructions and are just for entertainment. It is nice to see some of the places they are fishing and you can see how they are casting and fighting the fish. But that is about it. I don't think Zonka is an accomplished fly fisherman. He seems to be dependent on guides in order to catch fish. That is nothing against Zonka, it is the way of fly fishing shows on TV. They make a deal with a lodge or outfitter to advertise their outfit if they take them fishing. I watch Zonka because he is in Alaska and has fished some of the same places I have fished with my partner.
Before my Alaska fishing partner died we talked fishing every time I called. I asked him one day if he watched some of the shows about fishing in Alaska. He Said "No, I don't watch them because it makes me sad". We were lucky enough to fish one of the greatest fly fishing areas in the world and we always planned on going back to fish. His health failed and the realization of not ever getting back was too much for him to think about.
