Default Dear God, the NE tiers of States are about to get pounded with more snow.

My heart goes out to these folks, not to mention its got to be screwing up fishing big time in most places. Our first day with a real morning below freezing in almost a month here in Southern Oregon.

Not a good thing as all the fruit trees have long been going into bloom with 60+ degree afternoon temps.

Around here people were catching smallmouth bass in the rivers this past week. Looks like that's about to change

The ski areas are loving this. Even at my house we still have a foot of snow on the back deck and the piles from where I shoveled the roof are about 4 feet.
I talked to a guy yesterday who had just been ice fishing in southern VT and he said that there was 3 feet of ice to drill through.
Ice-out on the big lakes is going to be very late this year, but we should have good levels of cold water well into summer.

I rooting for at least a few more inches. We are only a couple inches shy for the most snow ever in a single season in Michigan. After all that shoveling, might as well go for the gold.

We will also be breaking the all time most consecutive days with over an inch of snow on the ground, as well as a record low temperature for this date tonight.

It's like winning Olympic gold!

The water temp In my local stream yesterday was 36. 3+ feet of snow to get to the water. I should have brought snowshoes instead of a fly rod. More snow coming today/tomorrow.

I posted this is the NH fly fishing forum in a thread about cabin fever.

It looks like it's about to get a little worse here tonight.

Cabin fever is getting to me, too. So much so that I just had to get out.

There's not much open water to be found in the White Mountains, but here's some.

Unfortunately, no fish for my efforts. And it was a lot of effort. Walking through the woods with 30" of snow on the ground was bad enough, but it had a crust on top that would almost support my weight. When it didn't I ended up in a 30" deep snow hole. It took me about 20 minutes to plow through about 150 feet of that stuff.

I live in Malone Ny. Right on the Canadian border and we are in a winter weather warning. We still have a few feet of snow. They are calling for another 12" to 18". The storm has already stated. It is about 18 degrees right now with 25 mile an hour winds. Fun stuff!

We have got about 6" of snow in a 5 hour period. 15 degrees outside and white out conditions. Winds up to 35 mph. Trying to get my boss to let me go home as I live 1 hour away.
