Default Chasing Carp in Town.

Went for a walk today with the wife and kids... Left the rod at home. We were on a dirt trail along a stretch of river in town. I am happy to say we located some very large Carp in the shallows. We were able to watch them from a foot bridge above. The section of river is only 2 miles from the house. It looks like more carp chasing is in my very near future. So lucky to live in such an area.

Mike: Sounds like you stumbled onto a gold mine, seeing that spot is so close by! Best of luck with those big Carp, should be loads of fun.

The one thing that I have learned so far in my fishless carp ventures is that they don't like loud clicking reels. I had an Old SA reel made by Hardy which is basicly a click pawl reel with a fairly loud click. The first time I pulled off line to make a short cast the carp bolted for deeper water. ......I went home and put the line on an old Medalist which has a very subdued click. The problem 'seemed' to go away. A clickless reel might be the best solution.
