Default Rods you regret NOT buying

J Kennedy Fisher 8' #5 graphite

Had a rep's demo rod for the day. Just a well crafted rod with a particularly agreeable taper. I was a bit too practical at the moment and figured I'd pick one up in the near future. Well, that didn't work out.

Finding an 8' #5 with a similar action has been a futile search for years.

How about you?

Reading is fundamental. Feel free to ignore my post . I'll repeat it when the "Rods you don't regret buying" thread actually comes along :P.

<ignore>Fished my Butterstick (7.5' 4wt) on the Pecos two weeks ago. Came in seven fish shy of two hundred (seriously ), all of them between 3" and 12", and every one of them was a blast. I loved the rod already but that trip made it special .</ignore>

.... not bought yet

I watch the craigslist pretty closely and there's a unmarked 8'3" bamboo rod for sale locally. 50 bucks.
The ad has been up for a couple of weeks now
The rod could be short tipped POS or ....it may be something special

Perhaps the title of this thread should be "The rods you regret can NOT afford"

There's an orvis helios 10' 7wt in the classifieds I'd love to have, but alas it's about 100$ too expensive.

We could set up a time share and purchase it together! You get it in spring I get it in fall!

Every time I walk into a fly shop...there are tons of rods I regret not buying. Similarly, at the beach....there are tons of 'skirts' I regret not chasing...but in both cases, my wife would kill me.....HAH!

Seriously, my wish list...is bigger than my want list....and my want list is about 100x bigger than my 'need' list.....this is the way of a fly rod hoarder.

"My name is Joe...and I am a fly rod hoarder"

Group: "Hi Joe"

Sage ZXL 2wt on close out for $250 , should have but already had 2 one weights and 5 3weights at that time so couldn't justify it

Also my wife offered to get me a bush creek cane rod for Christmas but i said no since we didn't have $1300 discretionary bucks at that time. They are a gorgeous rod by a local Denver rod maker
