Default Fly Fishing Tackle Candy

For all the years I was a spinning fisherman (50+), I don't think I ever looked at my rods or reels more than once. All I cared about was if the dark pink Wiggle Wobbler was going hook that big King salmon and if 40 lb test monofilament was going to be strong enough to land it.
For me the aesthetics were in the fatty fresh fillets I was going to cook on my grill.

Now I find myself drooling over a cobalt blue T&T rod and a bronze Galvan reel.
I'm sometimes daydreaming about a $750 Abel reel on a $1500 Tom Morgan rod.
I have boxes of little insect simulations. I hate insects!

What have I gotten myself into?

Default Re: Fly Fishing Tackle Candy

you have gotten yourself into the most amazing feeling with those insect designs in a mouth of a big fish, and after you land him asking yourself (now what should I have done better, I was lucky because ___), and learning what could make it better and better. I love this sport due to the feeling that I can always learn, and always have fun. There's only 1 other way I can have fun all by myself, and well...this is a forum for kids (I think we are all kids as well) so I will not name it.
