In no particular order and for no particular reason...

1. Gore-Tex
2. Sage XP's. It never really got much better.
3. My Jeep Wrangler. It will go about anywhere I need to and lots of places I shouldn't.
4. Fishing Tattoos.
5. Sleeping near the sound of rapids.
6. Drinking hot coffee on a cold morning in my boat.
7. Rising trout.
8. Mudding carp.
9. Thunderstorms.
10. A thick drake hatch.

---------- Post added at 03:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:39 PM ----------

Let me add one more...

A hot tattooed brunette, drinking coffee on a cold morning near rapids in my boat, wearing Gore-Tex, who rode with me in my Jeep and is deciding which to toss flies at, the mudding carp to the left or the rising trout to the right, using a Sage XP.

1. Re-discovering the great rods from a few years ago, for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

2. An Abel nipper thread (should that be first?).

3. Crystal clear rivers.

4. Gore-Tex, seconding the OP. Short of air travel, this might be the best invention of the 20th century.

5. Re-discovering fiberglass fly rods.

6. Watching my daughters pull enormous fish out of tiny streams on flies that were cast-offs from my box because I never could produce with them.

7. My daughters asking when I can take them fishing again. (Buy your own darn flies!)

8. Building a fly rod with my own personal preferences and touches.

9. An outgoing click.

10. Seeing the sun rise on my drive to the river.
