If you fish rivers, lakes, etc. that happen to have a good
variety of fish species can you tell "by the fight" they put
up which species fish you have hooked ?
Let's say you are fishing your favorite nymph pattern & you
hook into a real good fighter do you know for sure it's a big
smallmouth, or a nice big brown trout ? Granted if the jump
it's usually a dead give away. Can you tell by the pull ?
I know my favorite smallmouth river has rock bass. The
initial hit may feel them same, but rock bass put up very
little fight.
