Default Obey River

I will be headed to the Obey river below Dale Hollow the weekend of June 21. I have never fly fished it before. Any fly suggestions or any other input?

thanks

Hi bulldog,

You didn't get any help so I will give you my two cents. I have not fished there so keep that in mind. If you are fishing below Dale Hollow then it must be a tail water. If it is, do a search on tail water on this site and I think you will get a bunch of information. I think the Obey is best for Bass fishing and probably some planted trout. You should do a Google search on "Obey River Fishing Reports". The fishing report will tell you what fish to target. I would start with some black Woolly Buggers and they will work on Bass or Trout.

You might have gotten more responses if you had stated what you would be fishing for.

Frank

thanks for the info. I will be trout fishing. I have been there a couple of times using spinning tackle. I have caught a good number of rainbows and a few browns. This will be my first time using fly equipment there.
