Tilapia Tips Needed

I spent a day trying to get a tilapia and I THINK I had one bite on a size 12 black woolly bugger if I remember right. I saw a lot of them. I'd like to read any ideas you have for next time. I will probably be in kayak in a small, slow river with 7 foot visibility, average 6 foot depth and 1 knot flow and around 80 degrees, water and air.

We have a butt load of Talapia here in Arizona. They actually stock them. They are a tough critter to catch. I have had luck on small tadpoles and FBHE's..

Dont expect to catch as many compared to 'gills. Just hang in there, slow retrieves, and if you are spot casting try to **** them off.

They are a tough one to catch, and can be tough to land considering their bulk compared to the size fly they like to take- small. They are a mostly vegetarian omnivore. I would fish for them mostly with sparkly wet flies fished slow.

I also read on the net that they eat a lot of mosquito larvae so I was going to try some size 20 zebra nymphs next time I go.
