Default Albright Topwater Fly Outfits

Hi,

Does anyone have an opinion about these rods/ reels?

Albright has a huge sale going on. I'm thinking of picking up a 9' 8wt. Looks like the regular price for the whole setup is $169.00, but it's on sale for $50.

Thoughts?

Pretty hard to go wrong for that price. Even if you just keep it for a backup.

Dorian has one of their rods and speaks highly of it. You might PM him and get a first hand account, if he doesn't jump in on the thread. I looked at their web site yesterday, and they are sure offering some great discounts. At those prices I don't think you can go wrong.

I read a rod comparison review that compared 10 rods ranging from $1,100. to $149. The Albright A5 was second least expensive and held up well against some much pricier rods. It came in somewhere mid-pack, being preferred over some $600.+ rods. At $112., it seems it'd be a steal. I'm considering a 9', 6 wt to start my wife fly fishing. Who knows, she may end with my present rod.

This is what you're probably talking about. The A5 did very well. Tying the Winston BIIx

Yeah, I don't have any experience with the Topwater line, just the A-5, which I really like. Med. fast action, good finish, good warranty.
