Default Rod Repair

I have an old bamboo rod that one of the ferrules came off while I was pulling it apart. I would normally just epoxy it back on but a friend said not to use epoxy as it will eventually crystallize & the ferrule will come off again.. He suggested that I clean all the old glue off. coat the rod ferrule area with Plio-bond & light it. As soon as the flame goes out slide the ferrule on & it will be set for life. I never heard of this & was wondering if anyone else has ever tried it
