Default Caddis Fly Crossword Help

Can anyone lend me hand with this crossword puzzle clue that's killing me. It is: Type of Caddis Fly (7)

So, one word, 7 letters, and the letters I have are: G?A????

I'm positive the G is right and think the A is right as well. I've been looking all morning but can't come up with anything, I might just be too tired for this. Anyone have any ideas?

Mm, that sounds right and kind of fits but then I can't make sense of my other last clues. Another one of the final clues is "Term for mayfly if spent (4)" where the 2nd letter of that word is the 5th letter of the type of caddis fly clue.

I know this is ridiculous but it's driving me crazy.

I got nuthin'. All I can come up with is Grannom, Goddard, or Graphic Caddis (a John Barr pattern) and imago = spinner (adult mayfly). Sure none of those fit? Any other clues?

Based on the fact that they're generally called spinners, I suppose it could be spin or spun, but I've never actually heard those terms used. My fist smartarse answer was going to be "dead".

Hahah, DEAD was my first guess too but doesn't work out. None of these seem to fit, this is going to drive me insane.

Me too.... thanks for that...lol

Any other clues? Up, down, sideways on the spent wing spinner dealio? Or caddis

If it's not imago (5 letters instead of four) for the spinner, I'm stumped:

........................i...........i.........
i...............i.......m........im........
m.i...........m.i....a........ma...i
a.m..........a.m...g.i.......ag...m..
Graphic.... Grannom..... Goddard
o.g...m.....o.g.....a.......o.....g...
...o.. a.........o.....g..............o...
.......g................o
.......o

Ok. My head is going to explode. Need more clues.

Maybe I should mention it's from a UK fishing magazine, they call everything funny names over here. I'll scan what I've got in a little bit and see if anyone has any clues. I'm afraid I can't sleep until it's finished and I'm only lacking 3 more answers, really doing my head in.

Glad everyone else is getting involved so I'm not the only stumped one. =)
