Default Lamson Velocity 1.5 or 2 ?

Looking for a new reel for my 5 Wt TFO and am wondering what most would go for? Is the only benefit that the 2 has, would be extra room for backing. But at the same time it is a heavier reel. So I don't want to regret my choice from either end of my decision. Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Pavel

P,

I sent you a dissertation on this question by PM.

In short, you may want the heavier one.

Ard is a knowledgeable guy, I am sure that whatever info he gave you in the PM was good. Having said that here are my initial thoughts:

If you are using a 5 wt. it is most likely a trout rod so having more backing is not an advantage, you will rarely get into your backing and when you do you won't need a lot of it.

Second, you need to feel the weight difference with the rod and reel together and strung up. Buy which ever one balances best for you and your preference.

Thank you Dorian,

I kinda told him the same thing but used more words, your compliments are certainly appreciated.

Pavel

I have a Lamson Litespeed 2 on my 5 wt Orvis TLS rod and couldn't be happier.

I just purchased a Velocity 2. The differnce in the two reels is so small I figured the 2 would be more versatile.
