Airport security in Costa Rica

While going through airport security exiting San Jose, Costa Rica we were asked to strip all of the line off two reels that were strapped to a backpack. After the lines were stripped off then reloaded we were given the option to either throw the lines away (yeah right!) or take the rods/reels back to the counter and check them as baggage. So the backpack and rods were heavily taped and checked. So if you are fishing in Costa Rica be sure to check your gear before going through security.

We fished Lake Arenal with Captain Ron Saunders, an American guide with great knowledge of the water. We caught Guapote (Rainbow Bass) and several Machaca, described as a Piranha on steroids. More teeth than a junk yard dog.
