Default Redhorse

I've been fishing in a section of the Rum River behind my parents house and the only fish I see are Redhorse. I've tried a handful of different flies, at times passing them right in front of their noses but no luck. Does anyone know anything about these fish? Will they even bite a fly? If so what flies?
Thanks, Cabot

I used to fish for redhorse suckers when I was a kid. Used a #12 hook baited with a dough ball. You might try an egg fly of some type.

They frequently frustrate me as well. I'm told the secret is small nymphs dead drifted on the bottom and some luck. This guy is the best source of Redhorse info I know of- roughfisher.com

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.
