Default Jungle Cock Eyes-Tying them in and getting proportions right

Hi Fellas-Been on this forum less than a week and hoping someone can help me with jungle cock eyes. As they're so expensive I used to substitute goose biots, but now I've saved up I use the real stuff. The main problem is getting the eyes to look right. Surely there must be a way of tying them in together which looks correct. My efforts come out with one eye looking one way and the other somewhere else or just plain cock-eyed(the way I look after too many beers, ha ha). Any one have an easier way to do it-please help?

I'm not sure of what the difficulty you are having is. Would it be possible for you to put up a picture of a fly with 'cockeyed' JC on it. If you aren't familiar with how to post a picture here send a PM and I'll get you squared away.

Do you mean that they are sticking out and turning as you tie them in?

Some things that will make it easer,

cut the excess off because this will stop them from falling out.

tie them on just before the head is finnished (about to get the final layer of thread wraps) this will make them sit against the body

Start tying them at the shoulder (the point where the body meets the head) and wrap foward toward the hook eye

Dont cut the butts off untill they are set properly (before you get to the eye with the thread)

bring the thread from the eye back to the shoulder and whip finish a wrap or 2 short of the sholder this will stop them from sticking out as you whip finish

Forming the head it is important to get flat wraps which helps to set all the materials better (JC included)

I can post some pics if you need them
I have sent a PM with some cheap sources of JC nails
