Default Re: Wet / Streamer Tie-Along?

Allen, Nice work on the body/rib and I like the black head with swept back hackle and the straight eyed hook. I wonder how a straight-eyed hook will "ride" the pattern in the water(?) I've always thought that the down-eyed hooks make the pattern ride head up; but I could be wrong.

Laurie, those are nice; all 4 of them! The fourth one; with woven gold UTC wire body, is something special. I can see how it would get down quickly in the water. Suitable for framing!

Chris, really nice, smooth floss body (I think it's floss, looks like it to me anyway), sparse hackle and black head. Almost reminds me of a wet fly with the lacquered head. Pretty fly.

Jimmie, looks like a nice fly...................but you've got to cut down on the nicotine/caffeine or something when you photo your flies. I agree with you that my favorites are the ones that are wire ribbed with no thorax; unless it's tying thread.

Byron, feel free to post your flies whenever you can. If you want, you can mail them to me and I'll photo/post them for you.

Carman, I can't get them to show when I cut/paste the addresses into my browser. Can you post the pics from Photobucket to the thread?

Copy/paste the IMG code below each pic directly into the thread; that should work well for you and will put the pic in the thread; instead of the link address (maybe I'm the only one having this problem(?)).

I tried it that way the first time and all I got was the link that you are talking about, so I did it this way and they show in my post for me, can any others see it?

Carman,

The corrections that you put into your original post worked; the pics are now there (it may be that one of the mods corrected it for you; I'm not sure, but it's working). But what's in your second post is still just links for me.

Looks like a good a good tie; time to try it out on some trout!

Carman, we certainly allow for variation in this tie-along; so no problem from my standpoint with the dry fly hackle. Maybe we could call it a "wettish" P&O fly.

Madjoni, that's a nice looking fly! I like the slight taper that you got on the body and the hackle looks good on that hook; the head's pretty close to perfect! I don't slant my hackle toward the back, but I like the affect that you got with the swept-back hackle on your fly.

Jimmie, OK - we're taking your glue permit away (temporarily, of course); try boiled linseed oil instead; it gives a nice finish when it dries - in about 6 weeks!
