sure! all olive: bucktail tail, a floating dubbing, mottled turkey wing, fine elk or deer hair spun head.
Step by step on my blog.

Looks like a bug to me Gary...I'm sure trout everywhere would eat it! You stated "floating dubbing"; between that and the deer hair, does this at all float or is this strictly a wet drifter? Have you fished any with BH? I'll have to give it a go-round in a brookie stream when I get the desk in tying shape again this week. I has been disaster since I got back from Ausable two weeks ago; last minute frantic tying before I left.

Jason, it's an incredibly floating fly. It dances on the water, even in fast, narrow troughs and plunge pools like you see on small streams. Never put a BH on it, for me its strictly a fun fully floating fly. Last time I fished it (sadly, last summer as I'm out of commission this summer) on a lovely little stream outside of Cambridge, NY, I took brookies, browns and rainbows. They loved it. I've been tying this one for years; I guess it has its roots in the Letort Cricket.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.
Gary

I wasn't quite sure without a hackle and that big hook, but deer hair is awfully bouyant I suppose. I see the resemblance to the Letort. I shall tie some and pass them around as "Gary's Crippled Cricket" unless you care to fess to someone else inventing this. Just what you needed; more fame.

Out of commission this summer?? Sad to hear that, and I hope you can get back to the water soon.

Regards,
Jason

Jason, that little fly really just bounces back to you when fished dead drift. I think I might have originally tied it with some hackle or other, but my true laziness showed up again and I got lucky.

Call it what you will; most importantly, fish it!

(I had a little hip thing done that put me on crutches June, July and September). Shoulda just had the booger replaced!

Best,
Gary
