1st dry fly!

hey I made my 1st dry fly. it was using brown hackle. it came out with the hackle too long and I think the hackle is not as stiff as the 2 keouth capes I got with it. it sank! I figured that lol. well then I went to the keouth and used black. I made a midge pattern and it came out way better! it floats! but not the best. I think my thread is the problem. I used 210 danville. I need some 6/0 asap! here is the pix of both flys. what ya think? I didn't make any wings because I followed the basic dry fly pattern on fly anglers online. well here r those pix! the 1st and last r the midge and the middle is the 1st brown one I did.

As good as the kind you can buy! I can't do hackle if my life depended on it.
Only thing I see is the body doesn't taper alot from fat to thick as it heads from hackle to tail.

that looks good. I made my first beaded prince today and it turned out good too. I am as excited as you are.

I have taken a picture of every single fly that I have made. Problem is that I can't post them on here 'cause they are too big and I can't figure out how to shrink them to fit on here. I really wish I could show them off. I am proud of them.

If mine are too big I just open them in paint and drag them on the corner to a smaller size. just don't go smaller than you want cause it erases the pic with it if you try to make it bigger again.. you can always choose not to save it tho and just start over. this works for me usually. also I got my 6/0 thread so I will make some more dry flies.
