Default Schlappen Price Increase?

My local fly shop told me today that they would not be stocking schlappen anymore since the price was going from $6 a package to $55. Anyone else heard of a shortage or other reason for such a massive price jump?

I just checked some internet shops and they're all around $7 still. Maybe the hair extension craze is finally hitting Montana

LOL! Luckily that fad has died out here too. Their distributor is out of state so I don't think thats the case. I placed a couple orders online yesterday that should get me through for a while.

With that said I believe I'll stock up! I don't know how color oriented you are but I like to find white that is really long fibered and when I do I get a bunch. Once you have it you can easily make whatever you want or need from the white.

I'm going to get some today,

Ard

I don't know about you guys but my local shop carries the wapsi schlappen for 3.50 a pack. albeit it may be of lower quality because out of every pack there are 2-3 feathers that are just unusable. If prices are going to go up though, I may go buy out the store just to be safe.

If anyone else hears about prices going up let us know.

The extension fad is pretty much done. Prices are lowering, but not quite as low on saddles yet.

Keep in mind, it takes up to nine months to get a rooster to harvesting size. I would not be surprised if some of the growers are still playing catch up.

The local shop here does not have any Whiting schlappen currently, however Wapsi schlappen is well stocked and reasonably priced.
