Default My best producing trout streamer (inspired by Ard)

Being inspired by Ard I decided to share my best producing trout streamer.

This pattern is a local pattern, inspired by a west coast steelhead pattern. I have hooked atlantic salmon, rainbows, brookies, steelhead, and even perch on it. It is often the first thing on my line, and more often than not brings me fish all year long.
Living on an island means that most of the trout here are sea going, thus this pattern representing a major food item as all the estuaries here are full of shrimp. Just this fall I had been fishing hard in search of atlantic salmon, I had not thrown one on for whatever reason and finally did, the first cast landed a brookie of about 18 inches, the second cast hooked me up on a small atlantic salmon which I lost, and the third cast got me another 16" brookie.

I tie this pattern in many variations but this is the main and most productive one. I guess I should introduce it now, this is Lester the Lobster from PEI
I fish them in #8 and #6 salmon hooks but many other sizes fish well.

I tried to find a picture of one of my fish with the fly visible, but could not find one worthy of sharing (I need to bring a camera more often)
But I did take this picture of a fish landed a few weeks ago by a good friend, it was in the 24-26 inch range, bright chrome with sea lice all over him!

My friend here ties his lobsters with a white tail and I believe this fish was caught on one of them, they produce well and in my theory they represent a dying/molting shrimp

Outstanding!

Now I wonder if I shouldn't have a few of them for fishing close to the salt here. That's a beautiful fish was iit caught on PEI?

awesome looking fly man. I've seen a few of them now, and now that I'm in to tying I am hoping to try and put a few of my own together. Considering we are chasing the same type of fish you mind sharing a recipe / material list for that bad boy. I would love to add him to my streamer arsenal for next season.

Great looking pattern there. I tried one a few times last year, no takers. I know shrimps are good though.

Few Islanders around these parts now.

Yes, I think there are 4 of you total. The Island isn't that big so maybe you guys will meet up eh?

november 6th is the first night of the fly tying club, all are welcome.
Ive fished this in ponds that have no access to the salt and still landed fish, so either fish love it, or I just fish it far too often... lol

and Ard, that bow was caught on the middle river in cape breton, which flows into the bras dor lakes, I was on a trip to the margaree and there were very very few fish around so we went to a few other rivers in search of some fish, the group landed a few fish on the middle and my friend here got into 4 nice steelhead

that is a nice looking fly for sure! shrimp patterns just do so well here!
I threw together a fly a few days before the end of the season and barely took it off my line, caught dozens of trout and hooked 3 salmon on it, I'm hoping that no one else has come up with it and I can call it my own haha
