Gray Wolf's Brown Julie (Streamer)

Tied on a shorter shank hook than i'm used to for streamers, size 6 Mustad 3665A (4xl??)

Anyways, wing i Llama Hair. Interesting material, very soft.
Will probably tie this one again real soon. I think the wing needs to be lower and shorter, as well as a shorter hackle.

That's an obscure one you don't hear much of.

Yes...the Mustad 3665A is a 4x long hook. Notice the sharp drop of the eye of the hook. I hate that. I do have some very old Mustad 3665A hooks that have about 1/2 the angle of the newer hooks. They look a lot better. Why did they change that???

The L87-3665A is a 7xl hook, could it be the 9672 or a 9575? Its hard to tell from the photo but it doesn't look to be a Limerick but more of a Sproat Bend.

Re: Gray Wolf's Brown Julie (Streamer)

this isn't the L87, just the regular 3665A.

Mustad changed a lot of their hooks which sucks, because the old ones are much better looking. I have an old limerick size 7 i use for wet flies...you know they're old when they're sized in odd numbers!
