I did not realize that 6/0 was not a universal size for threads. Being in the electrical industry I am used to a standardized wire gauge and assumed that the measurements for threads was also standardized, thanks for that clarification.

I agree that it is confusing. Hooks are not standardized and threads are not either.

In threads Gordon Griffith's 14/0 is Bennichi's 12/0 is Uni's 8/0. They are all polyester threads of about 70 denier.

It is a game of one upsmanship. In tippets is the Varivas Brand that sells a 12X tippet. Isn't tippet size supposed to be .0011" - tippet size = tippet diameter. So shouldn't 12X tippet have a negative diameter? Not according to Varivas, Their sizing is made up but uses the X designation.
