Re: beginner vise

Do a search on vises for more info.

my suggestion is a griffin. They can be had for your price range, and they are good, solid rotary vises for the money.

Peace.

Re: beginner vise

I would second Griffin. I enjoy tying on my Spyder.
Bang for the buck is pretty good.

for $100 bucks i might go with a renzetti apprentice. it would handle the flies you want to tie.

I am completely satisfied with my Griffin Spider vise. I can't see the need of spending more money. I originally got the version with the C-clamp that attaches to the edge of a desk, but then bought the heavy pedestal base and much prefer that. I also added the parachute attachment.

If you can pay a bit more, there is a Renzetti Traveller on Ebay:

Renzetti Fly Tying Vise | eBay

Hook and hackle is having a sale on their E-Z rotary vise. I've heard some nice comments about this vise as a descent inexpensive vise. Get the pedestal vise and the bobbin holder for less than your budget.

Re: beginner vise

I'd definitely get a rotary vise. I'd look at the one Orvis has for about 70 bucks. I'm sorry I didn't buy it.

Re: beginner vise

Now that I've looked a bit more I'm kinda leaning towards a griffen 2a
