Default Boutonnaire

There hasn't been too many flies coming off my vise of late, i've kinda frustrated myself out of tying classics for a while.

Nonetheless, I was compelled to tie this one for a bloke for his wedding.

Pretty simple fly.

The bridesmaids are wearing watermelon colored dresses, so i bought some watermelon dye and dyed up several different feathers etc.

Pattern is as follows
Hook Size 2 8xl
Tag Silver tinsel
Tail Watermelon Goose Shoulder
Body Black Wool
Rib Silver tinsel
Belly White Bucktail
Throat Henny Rooster (watermelon)
WIng While over watermelon saddle hackles
SHoulder Silver Pheasant
Cheeks Jungle Cock
Head Black

Enjoy.

Eunan: Beautiful work as always!

I forgot to mention that when I was fishing the North Platte in early October with Chase and Rod, Rod was showing me some photos of classic patterns, I mentioned that I knew a guy on the forum that ties flies like that named Eunan and Rod said, yes that he had purchased that fly from you. Small world!

Nice tie Eunan! When I made the boutonnieres for my wedding, I really had no particular pattern in mind and just kind of went with the colors... I like yours better!

Larry, that's pretty awesome about Eunan's tie showing up on the water with you. I'm a fan for sure.

That awesome! I wish I had thought of something like this for my wedding.

I'll have to remember this for my next one.

Thanks for the input guys.

Larry, Rod has bought quite a few of my flies, streamers and atlantic salmon flies. He owns a couple of 'one of a kind' flies from my vise!!

Nice tie; first time I've seen anything quite like that color combination.

I can associate with that comment..............

I put a 'Like' on that when you posted but didn't comment, truly a well done streamer!

I have tied about a dozen Jock O' Dee flies for this past season and that's about it for anything that could be considered classic. Ever since a fellow gave me an articulated Sculpin fly last fall that hooked the largest steelhead I've ever had contact with I've been messing with that type fly. Then as if that wasn't enough to figure out a forum member sent me some intruder style & tube tied flies...............

I took the tubes and Intruders fishing in June and found them to be a hit with the fish so I began messing with that type tie also. I have enjoyed the learning experience, figuring things out as I went along making them. They are indeed good for catching fish and if you guys haven't dabbled with them you may find what I did; that it makes an entertaining side track from the old style tying.

Nice tie Eunan,

Ard

Great looking fly!

Just a though, you could tie a fly like that up on a safety pin, which could then be used as an actual boutonnaire.
