Default Collin's Hackle

The majority of my tying are nymphs, but I want to start getting into dries. I mainly fish western Pennsylvania. I plan on ordering some grade #3 capes from Collins, but want some suggestions on colors. Should I start with basic colors (e.g., grizzly, brown, medium dun, and light ginger), or focus more on his barred versions? Thanks.

Ron

Default Re: Collin's Hackle

If I was just getting 3 capes I'd do grizzly, brown, and med dun or blue dun. That would cover an awful lot of trout flies. I wouldn't get a barred brown but you could get a lightly barred dun but personally I'd just get the standard.
