Default What uses for 9x long streamer hook.

I saw some over on fly tying supplies site and wondered if anyone has ever tied a fly with a 9x long hook.

If so, what species was it for and do you have a picture?

Just curious.

Thanks,
Cardo

I never fished with one Cardo, they were used for trolling flies I believe. I do have some I believe are old Mustad 3665-A 10X long.

Most flies on them I believe are tied for show these days. Of course I'm no expert but I always use #4 & 6 4X and 7X for streamers. I think that's what they are.....

Here's a very old streamer on a 10X

The picture does nothing to show scale but I believe the hook is about 3" long

I use them for trolling for landlocks and brook trout in the Rangeley region of Maine just after ice-out.
