Now that's an original!

I could have used the fly last October when I went 0 for 4 on my 'go to' trout & grayling river. I spent a lot of time trying to find the fish as they dropped but never connected.

The drop of trout and grayling is the opposite of the 'run' of the salmon. When the salmon surge up toward the headwater streams they take in tow a majority of the trout and other species that rely on salmon eggs as a food source with them. As the winter comes and the waters fall the salmon are finishing and dying off. The trout are now as big and fat as they will get for the year and they begin to migrate down toward the big waters where they will winter.

Hitting the drop is prerequisite if you are to have a day to talk about. Once you locate the fish you can rely on good numbers and big fish day after day as you follow the down stream or river migration. Skunked might be the fly I really needed

Calftail, I'm glad I don't fish with you, that would be a cruel thing to do to a buddy!

But I do like your sense of humor!

That is an awesome fly and idea. Thanks for posting it. May have to tie a couple up, though they might come back to haunt me.

For whatever unexplained reason fish turn off and refuse to eat. There is absolutely nothing a guy can do. I too am a member in the "Got Skunked" club, and I am also a lifetime member in the "Almost Skunked" club. The kinda days that make a guy feel real humble.

Oh...and every body got a "like" from me, not for getting skunked but....welcome to the club!

BTW....did you notice the pink floss butt. I had to giggle at that myself having come face to face, or ? face to xxx, with the real McCoy. Here's, "Matilda" who recently took up residence under my shed......
