I take my fishing,,time on the steam ,,very serious. But,,I was never a fly tier. Now that I'm learning,,I'm like a lil' kid in a Leggo factory !I'm looking for the person writing the next song,,not the guy singing a tune my ears have already heard.
Tweeking flies in anticipation of the next outing is the biggest thrill I've enjoyed since trapping and anticipating tomorrows catch. Can't wait to get back out there and see if 'my latest Frankenstein' (whatever it might be) will catch me a fish !
I am NOT in the league with you guys,,I might never be...but mine do catch fish.... rather well too I might add.

I must agree I love fly fishing but it has totally changed since I started tying.

My nephew is 13 and his dad bought him a fly set up for Christmas. A few weeks ago we walk in to Easter dinner and I had a dozen size 18 Hi Vis Adams on a wine cork. Dad says oh man those are sweet. I handed them to his son and said...now maybe you will go fishing. The kid was so excited I am going to tie him a box up soon.

I found a way to make tying pay. My buddy now drives every time we go fishing. He said he hasn't had to buy a fly in 3 years since I started tying :wave towel

I really enjoy catching on my ties, but I also get a pretty cool sense of satisfaction when my friends catch fish on my ties as well.

you are certainly welcome to create whatever you want however you want and nobody disputed that. if it floats your boat so be it

YOUR way is not the ONLY way when tying flies!

Fly tyers can be masters of making things complicated!

You're only limited by lack of imagination. Be creative, experiment.

You don't have to worry about being classified in this group, at least I don't think so.
