Default First run of poppers

I've made a couple poppers before, but I decided to try more of a production approach this time. Small batch # (doing 6). But here they are after the bodies being glued on, and a coat of paint.
Can't wait for the smallmouth trip this year.
They're all on #4 mustad bent shank hooks.

Next step will be another coat, followed by some dots, and a coat of sealant.

It's nearly impossible to beat a yellow popper for smallmouth fishing. Looks like a good start you have there!

I gotta agree Ted.
Yellow is my go-to color for poppers.

Nice pretty pieces of bass candy ya got there! What paint are you using? I tie a lot of hoppers and gurglers, but these look too good not to try.

It's just some acrylic craft paint. I'll post a picture of the paint tonight. For the dots I used some testors model paint (also acrylic).
Tonight I'll put on a coat of sealant, and maybe get started on the appendages and such.

I used to make poppers all the time. I even made some red ones just for frogs. I still have the old Heddon fiberglass rod of my Grandpa's that I used to use with them.

Seeing those pics makes me want to get back to doing yet another thing I no longer have time to do.

Awesome job on those. They will definitely give you some stories to tell!
