Default Dye for hair

I can't seem to find a particular color of hair that I want to use, off the shelf. I have tried mixing different colors together but can't get what I'm after. Being that I have a fairly large piece of goat, I was wondering if anyone dye's their own. If so, what would be the preferred type of dye to use. I have scanned through most of the forum and couldn't seem to find a thread on this topic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

Hi John,

Here is a link to a thread about dying. I think it will give you a start.

I have an article in a fly tying magazine that covers dying with coolaid. I know it sounds weird, but I have done it. It works really good, and it is colorfast. You can mix your own colors and it is really cheap. If you want to know more about it, let me know and I'll dig out the article.

I should have mentioned, it's done in the microwave oven. If you leave the material in the microwave to long it can make it way darker than you want. Test a small bit first and get the timing right. Once the color is in there is no getting it out. Some things take the color faster than others. Feathers are faster than bucktail for example. I really like doing it this way.
