Default Matching the Hatch?????

Well sort of. I do allot of stillwater and I really like exploring into what they are eating.

Now Rivers, you can see the dries and flip a rock for the underwater, but stillwater, take out the old Turkey Baster (so to speak).
Fill it with a little water and gently insert it down the fishes throat. I leave the fish in the net and in the water to do this. Squeeze the water in and slowly remove.

But, sometimes, color isn't an issue...but it is sooooo fun exploring. Like trying to fihure out what color of Power Bait .....LOL And sparkles or not.

Nice stuff Joni and the bait fish patterns look super legit! The toughest part of matching the hatch, for me at least, on stillwater is before fish #1. But once you get fish #1 and "suck out" it's meal it gives you a better idea of what bugs are active.

Nice post!

Absolutely on that first fish. Lord knows, I have gone through a whole box or two, or three before.
I always end up going with the old school (haresear, Prince, PT, etc)

Be careful now. I find I get CRAZY now trying to catch the first fish, just so I can see what they are eating!!!! LOL It turns into a quest!
