Circle hooks

Are there flies that can be built on circle hooks?

Re: Circle hooks

Yes.

I have seen buggers, leeches, baitfish patterns, and tarpon flies tied on circle hooks.

The answer is 'yes.' But what folks just can't do is 'not set the hook' in the "normal fashion." CH's are 'self setting' (for a lack of a better term) and one of the oldest style of hooks going ... like 10,000 years old.

For salt water fishing, a strong maybe, for fresh water fishing ... don't.

It is hard not to strike with CH's. I was thinking for nymphing that would be a good solution seeing as so many fish get missed. Good to hear they are used in saltwater.
