This is one of my favorite NAFFF threads. Always great to see the ideas of others and nice to have a place to share my flies.

After seeing 'Avs purple fly collection, I just had to go to the fly shop and pick up some 8/0 purple thread and tie some variants (with 2mm tungsten silver beads for winter spelunking). Dubbing is UV ice dub. Lagartun blue, chart or red fine wire.

purple peacock stone. #16 (use peacock herl from near the eye of the feather for the blue wraps)

purple warrior #14 (great holographic color created by tinsel over purple with chart wire. hard to see in photo)

TB, all because of you I now have that purple people eater song stuck in my head... but I would definitely use those flies, especially the first one, the purple peacock stone.

I tied some streamers last night and finished the last two flies for the nymph swap, but unfortunately there are no photos

I will have to test it out (the flying purple trout slayer?). I made a 2-bit hooker/long pheasant tail that was the same color scheme and it worked well.
The thin blue stripes of herl near the eye have such great natural colors.
The #16 size, dark, skinny, copper john/PT/2bit style stonefly nymph is my go to fly for boulder creek if I have not fished it for a while, it generally works year round. The #18-22 sizes and thread midges start working great in town when it freezes nightly. Last winter the bigger browns (for Boulder Creek) were taking tiny little #22-24 black thread/herl midges through the coldest part of winter.

The white soft hackle and tail was a feather that escaped from a throw pillow last night! (obsessive fly tier must put to use)

Hugh, that's a good looking bumble, I feel like that would fish well dry and wet. I need to get a sudden windfall so that I can make an order with Laurie...

Eunan, is that calf-tail for the tails? Those flies look killer, I bet they would be a multi-species success!
