I tried some darker olive and brown colors too:
(I got a little out of control with the antennae length on this one)

Very nice, I like how you changed up the color with the brown! I bought the tubing and the chartreuse wire to make a few JC's Electric Caddis flies, but haven't made any yet.

PT: Sweet looking "Glimmer Midge" that root beer color just pops!

My fly tying leave some things to be desired. I've got the basics down, but don't tie enough of any one pattern to master it...hey, look, something shiny.

Hey Larry?
What are those wing cases made from? They look real nice. Really like the first one. Looks

Hi Phil,

It looks a lot like fibers from a pheasant tail to me. Probably a center or close to it, could be golden pheasant.

I'm not sure either, Ard. Maybe the question was about the JC's? If so, the wings are Swiss Straw, black on the chartreuse one and brown on the olive green.

Here is the video on how to tie the JC's Electric Caddis in case anyone else is interested:

The wingcase in this pattern is black swiss straw and John Collins the inventor of this fly uses a wing burner to get the shape. I haven't tied one yet, I was just going to cut the wingcase with my scissors.
