Larry,

Olive Glimmer Thread from Cascade Crest:

Glimmer Thread

The original pattern, used on the Madison River, uses twisted chartreuse Antron or Zelon...I tie those too, with 2 strands of Krystal Flash twisted with the Antron or Zelon...the pattern slays in the Eastern Sierras when the Grannom are about and emerging... the wing is white/clear Sparkle Emerger Yarn or White Zelon...

Good stuff !!!

PT: Thanks for the info! That looks like a killer pattern and I'd like to tie some up.

Some scuds I threw together yesterday with the help of Clear Cure Goo. These were inspired by a combination of things, mainly talk of scuds in a thread on the forum (which inspired the straight shanked hook) and talk with some buddies about a local stream which lacks diverse insect life but holds many scuds. I used a google image search for my inspiration on colors and elements. Maybe these will see some use next week!

Hello,

I will start tying flies after Christmas, when I will find some time for that, but I have to appologize in advance the look of my flies when I show the photos here between all your professional flies

Thorsten, I'm sure they will look fine, as well as catching plenty of fish! And don't worry, you aren't the only one in awe of all the professional ties, I'm constantly wowed by the stuff I see on here!

A.J.,

Your scuds look already professional and they inspire me to do my scuds with my epoxy glue to make them more resitant.

Itch, the dubbing is Ice Dub except for the middle section, which happens to be spectrablend nymph since it was nearby. I use thinskin to hold it all down and facing the right direction, then I hit the top with clear cure goo.

Those look killer gator! Very nicely tied!

Thorsten,

No need to worry about posting flies YOU feel aren't on par with anyone else's--do not ever be embarrassed. The beauty of this board is that we are here to encourage one another, and there are some very highly skilled tiers who are more than happy to help. I am constantly learning something from the membership here. And I for one, love to watch people's progress when they are new to tying. If tying interests you, by all means, go for it and post away.
