Gold Ribbed Hares Ear, Vintage Mustad Limerick Size 7. Aint tied a winged wet in a while, and it shows. Wings kicked up becuase i didnt taper the body/build the head to create a flat platform for the wings.

Great minds think alike! what did you use for the case? I went with hare's ear but I like that look better.
Using the hurl behind the ice dub, I thought it made it look like the caddis was crawling out of the case. Either way it's good to know it'll work like you said!

I used Superfine Dubbing in Dark Tan and chartreuse hare's ear in front of that, then the natural ostrich. It's almost a dead ringer for the natural i've seen in the spring creeks I fish. They are very slim cases with almost a mottled appearance.

I've seen this pattern tied both ways, can't remember where I saw it. I've also seen these tied in reverse. Head at the bend of the hook on a 2302 TMC or 1760 Daiichi.

That fly you tied will put you on some fish, nicely done

More of my favorites.
Hope you're not gettin' too sick of seein' them. I tend to obsess over a certain pattern until I find what I'm feelin'. I think it will become my workhorse pattern so I want plenty variations on hand.

I was trying to determine what these jungle cock wing and hackle style remind me of. I kinda think they look like a deer fly or horse fly pattern. Or those big blow flies that are kinda like a house fly but bigger and uglier. Hopefully they'll look like a Wendy's combo to the trout next season.

Also a butterfly variation and some other critters.
