Here are a few of the pictures I promised. I also tied up a few Slump busters, pheasant tail soft hackles and some more girdle bugs.

If anyone has any suggestions please throw them my way! I'm definitely new to these patterns!

Liking those chenille nymphs, been looking for a good simple pattern to start with. Is it just micro chenille and hackle?

I agree. You do an awesome job with this style. Amazing job. I love the colours and combinations. Is this style your work horse fly? The jungle coq really brings them alive. Id like to try a few. Love to see a tie along for this one.

It's one of the type of flies that do well for wild brown trout on still waters over here yes, but like any fly they have their day and some days they won't look at them. With the traditional loch-style approach you normally fish from a drifting boat, a team of wets fished in the wave. A dabbler of some description is always a good bet to have somewhere on the cast, normally on the point.
