The fly would look like this if tied conventionally;

The fly catches salmon and trout in either style but I am trying to catch up with the past 15 years and learning to convert many of my ties to the modern styles of tying.

Instead of the poly fiber wing & crystal flash feelers the Intruder uses long polar bear fibers to replace the color and sparkle. I see good things associated with these flies
Ard I'd say that you are off to a fabulous start! Your AK Assassin looks amazing! Really love your rendition of it in a shank. We'll done buddy!

Just one suggestion if I may offer input: flip the eyes on the bottom of the shank so your hook point rides up. I suppose you could always flip the hook too

Killer fly. Just killer!

It's been a while since I tied this fly, so it's not the perfect one, but it's what I tied today

THAT IS GREAT! Great modification and colour scheme to the tired Matuka.

Can you list the materials here for that puppy? I am thinking swing time for steels this winter.

Here you go KJ..

hook...sz4 3xl
thread...white 8/0 uni
rib...med gold oval tinsel
body...white angel hair and red sealex for the throat
wing...cream poly underwing, olive dyed grizzly saddle hackle
collar...olive dyed grizzly hackle
I sized the hackle wing 2x the shank and used the surplus hackle cuts 1 1/2 shank length for bulk.

Make sense.

I have been back for almost two weeks from my Christmas Island trip. All I could think of is going back whenever that may be, so I tied up the Crazy Charlies that I had sacrificed to the Bonefish gods.
