Default Re: What have you been tying today?

So I tried something new today. Normally, I find a pattern in one of my books or a tie tutorial on YouTube.

Today I tried emulating a photo instead. Late April - May is excellent sucker spawn season around here and this photo of spawn and fry caught my eye.

Fry:
Black bead and dubbing head
bead chain eyes
Flashabou body
Peacock herl lateral line

Egg Sacks:
Looped laser chenille

Gorgeous bivisibles, Norm!

Ray Bergman especially liked badger bivisibles. The dark center wrapped around the hook shank impressionistically suggests a caddis body.

It amazes me that these actually work. I've caught plenty of fish on them

I probably have 40-60 various poppers painted that need tails and weed guards....getting started on them. These are on a #8 Mustad popper hook.

These two huge boxes of flies were tied by Jerry (aka hairwing530) and donated to Project Healing Waters. I just wanted to show off Jerry's incredible talent and say thanks for his generosity.
