The BlueFish are almost gone. Once they put their teeth away for the winter the feathers can come out to play I've tried alot of natural and synthetic materials but nothing moves quite like feathers in the water.

Much enjoying Lawrence Finney's DVDs on tying Irish flies (for duffers). Here is an olive bumble variation.

#12 wet fly hook
Tail: flo yellow GP tippet
Rib: UTC gold
abd: olive dubbing
body hackle: true cree Hebert-Miner
2nd hackle: English/Hung. partridge dyed olive
front hackle: Whiting grizzle hen dyed kingfisher blue

Still having great fun with these - here is the Peter Ross bumble variant and hot spot per Laurie's DVD

Already posted this, but I thought I'd show how the prototypes worked out yesterday.

lil'brown streamer:

Chironimid: (sno-cone style)

I trailed the chironimid about 4 feet behind the streamer all day on a sink tip line and landed about 12-13 of these guys (ok, it is a private C&R lake, but the bigger fish are still picky...) Best of the day was about 23" although rumor has it that a few 10lb. 30" rainbows live in this lake. About 1/3 took the streamer, the other 2/3 took the sno-cone.

Tied a up a few flies for different purposes. Still need to add some eyes & some final epoxy finish on some of them.

Hugh, loving following a duffer's attempts at lough flies I need to pick up those DVDs!

Threw together a few quick streamers to hopefully be swung tomorrow if I'm lucky! iPhone color balance is off with the lighting, the yellow ones are actually more chartreuse-green... There's no use if it ain't chartreuse!
