Spinner,

I have enjoyed your pictures and stories immensely. It was my father taking me out on those early morning fishing and hunting trips that sparked my interest in the outdoors and the natural order. At the time I just thought it was great that my dad was including me in the activities reserved for him and his buddies. I didn't know why I was there or why I enjoyed it so much, but I saw the enjoyment it gave my father and I knew it had to be special.

As I grew older we grew apart. I went to college a half hour away from my parents and would only talk to them about once a month. I held on to my love of the outdoors but we rarely did things together. I eventually dropped out of school, and it wasn't until I left for basic training that we were finally able to reconnect through letters and an occassional phone call.

I know cherish every moment that we can get together and even more so if it can be spent on the water. I finally listened to my heart and heeded the lessons that had been taught to me on the outdoor adventures of my youth. This fall I will be 30 and I will graduate with my masters in biology. I didn't choose this path in life, it was just the natural progression of events set in motion all those years ago. I have come to realize that we can learn important lessons every day if we just pay attention to the right things.

Thanks again for sharing your memories and reminding us of our own.
