That butterfly is the size of a monarch.

Cool picture Len. I really need to start bring my camera along when I fish. I have a nice camera on my droid but that is usually tucked three layers deep in side two plastic baggies.

I thought it was a wolf spider too and sent it away to Bug Guy at UW Madison and he consulted with three others and said eyes wrong pattern for wolf spider.

All 4 said female fishing spider.

need a couple other things....I typically make the venture to Cabelas a week before season.

You don't see those kind of spiders too often. Great Photo! How often do you see Wood Spiders? They are very common in the U.P. especially around water. Here is a picture of one I found while hunting Brook Trout this summer and another GIANT one that measured 6 inches!
